IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz is less than enthusiastic about the prospect of launching a military strike against Iran, according to Channel 10 television news.

Reporter Emanuel Rosen quoted statements allegedly made by the chief of staff in closed forums, regarding the possibility of a strike on Iran’s nuclear program.

According to the report, Gantz said that if it turns out after the operation that Israel’s ability to damage Iran’s nuclear program is not great, Israel’s deterrence will have suffered a major setback.

He also reportedly said that “Israel’s ability to seriously damage Iran’s nuclear capability is limited and is of course, not even remotely similar to that of the United States.”

Gantz also warned that if missiles are launched from Iran at Israel – “it will not be similar to anything that we have experienced in the past.” Channel 10 interpreted this as a statement that the Israeli Home Front is not prepared to withstand an Iranian strike.

It should be noted that reporter Rosen is an ultra-leftist.

Another ultra-leftist news analyst, Amnon Abramovich of Channel 2, assessed Friday that a large number of Israel’s current and previous security chiefs oppose a strike in Iran, and enumerated some names, including those of Gantz and Mossad chief Tamir Pardo. However, Middle East analyst Ehud Yaari countered him immediately by saying that an equal number of current and previous security chiefs who support a strike could also be listed.
