The event will be staged according to the following graphic layout diagram below. The podium with microphones will be midpoint center between the Queens Borough Hall portico and the steps. Featured speakers will line up in back of the podium in speaking order. Joe Concannon will contact all selected speakers Monday to give final instructions. All participating groups holding their group banners and signs will line up in a semi-circular formation behind the podium fanning out to the edges of the Boro Hall staging area, so all banners are clearly visible to the media. A double row of banner holders may be neccessary depending upon the numbers of banners and signs represented. The bulk of the crowds will form on the sidewalk plaza in front of the steps. An excellent sound system will carry the speaker’s voices to all who attend, even across the street.
Remember, this rally’s purpose is to give the media and our elected officials a powerful show of “unity of the community” for our heroes in the law enforcement community. Study carefully the line up and assembly layout details below for a spectacular presentation of united citizens for our NYPD. The one singular message is that we are all gathered at the rally on Tuesday to stand up, salute and wholeheartedly thank our men and women of the NYPD and show our support for public safety and law and order. Signs and banners and our message to the media will reflect this consistent theme: We Support Our Police! Retired NYPD Captain Joe Concannon, the organizer of the series of city-wide nonpartisan pro-NYPD rallies, has invited the media to attend the first, called “Support Your Local Police” rally and press conference, scheduled for Tuesday January 13, 2015 at 12:00 noon on the steps of Queens Borough Hall.
The rally was organized in response to the dangerous rhetoric coming out of the Mayor’s office and the New York City Council. In the aftermath of the police assassinations in Brooklyn, and continuing assaults on our Police Officers, there has been an outcry for public safety and an outpouring of support for the NYPD. Concannon said, “Public safety is the cornerstone of our civilized society. The police are the thin blue line that separates civilization from chaos.”
We will deliver a message of unity, not division, and support for the men and women of the NYPD who put their lives on the line every day to protect us and keep our communities safe and secure. Concannon said: “The reason why I organized these rallies is because I believe in public safety for all New Yorkers as well as a better New York and the preservation of every community,”
The rally will be held on Tuesday, rain or shine.
