Kirollos Refat Ibrahim, 14-year-old Coptic boy, was returned after being kidnapped for nine months. He was forcible detained by two Imams (Muslim spiritual leaders) on the roof top of a mosque, in Manshiet Nasr, Cairo.
During that period he was forced to learn to recite the Koran.
Human rights activist Magdy Ramzy, together with the head of Criminal Investigations in Gamalia Police Station, Mofid Mohamed Mofid , were able today to free 14-year-old Kirollos.
The Gamalia Prosecutor has issued an Order of Arrest for the two Imams responsible for the detention of the young child, and orders his return to his guardians.
Dr. Naguib Gobraeel, President of the the Egyptian Federation for Human Rights, said that the incident constitutes a very serious precedent in which a child not exceeding the age of 14 years is forcible detained in a mosque and by two imams!!!
Dr. Gobraeel requested the Minister of Religious Endowments, to re-inspect mosques and imams, in order to prevent the recurrence of this dangerous incident, and demands that the security agencies find who is behind this serious kidnapping incident.
