‘Both Sides’ didn’t shoot to kill Steve Scalise.
By Jack Engelhard – Arutz Sheva
Can we agree that depravity is a specialty of the left?
Following every attack by Palestinian Arab terrorists against Israeli civilians, world leaders immediately jump in call for “calm” from “both sides.”
For some reason, Dafna Meir comes to mind. She was a young Israeli mother and nurse who answered the doorbell to her home in the southern Mount Hebron region of Judea. Most likely she answered with a smile. It was that kind of neighborhood and she was that kind of woman.
She was not prepared for a knife-slashing Arab murderer who, for no known reason, had come to kill her and her six children. Apparently he wanted the children. He would only need to get past the mother. But she stood her ground. She took the blows and was knifed to death.
The screams from the home alerted the town’s security squad. The assailant ran off. The kids were safe. Their mother was dead.
Immediately world leaders responded. Were they horrified? Of course. Did they call it Islamic terrorism?
Did they say Palestinian Arab attacks against Jews must cease?
Did they say the incitement must stop?
No, no and no to all the above.
Instead the Obama administration, the US State Department, the UN, the EU, The New York Times, Liberals both in Israel and throughout America – all called for calm and restraint, from BOTH SIDES. That’s how moral equivalency gets its ugly name and that’s how the Left operates.
The victims (multiply Dafna Meir by the thousands) get no chance to properly mourn, to express singular pain, to shout indignation, to weep injustice.
All that’s been taken from them, and from those of us for whom there’s a world of difference between good and evil.
Not so from the Left who put the same price between murderer and victim and put the same value on all customs and cultures…no matter how depraved.
Both Sides, they say, share the blame — even when it’s one side that does nearly all the stabbing, the car ramming, the beheading, the bombing and the shooting.
Which brings us to the United States where a man who hated Donald Trump went on a shooting rampage against Republicans practicing baseball in Virginia, injuring several and badly wounding GOP House Majority Whip Steve Scalise. Doctors say he has a long road to recovery.
But immediately Leftists took the upper hand. They called for tolerance. They asked for Both Sides to behave, both political parties to quit the hate talk.
Don’t look at us, they say. Don’t believe what your eyes can see and what your ears can hear…and never mind Donald Trump being allegorically stabbed to death in New York’s Central Park. Forget the thousands who come to cheer the mock assassination of our Caesar.
Who are these people who thrill to that spectacle?
No, Both Sides did not murder Dafna Meir and both sides do not riot threaten on campus whenever a Conservative or Israeli speaker manages an invitation.
That’s the Left and only the Left who commit crimes of intolerance, and they do it nearly every day from the pavements to the headlines. Jewish and Christian speakers have no shot from NYU to Berkeley. Israel and Trump have no chance from The New York Times or the networks.
Both Sides are not Rep. Maxine Waters and Linda Sarsour. That’s one side and it’s the side that dominates the American scene through blood-curdling prejudice.
The Democrats and their endless investigations to get Trump, one way or another, have poisoned the culture to where everyone feels entitled to ruin (even assassinate) Trump through caricature – and yet it’s the Democrats who have the chutzpah to demand “civility” from Both Sides.
Nice try.
But it is too obvious that the violence in words and deeds is a one-sided business. Just ask Steve Scalise who remains in the hospital fighting for his life.
