Martha Samuel, an Egyptian Muslim who converted to Christianity, formerly known as Zainab Said , was deported, together with her two children (Kirillos and Emmanuel, ages 4 and 2) on Monday, 12-22-2008 from Cairo’sKhalifa Police Station to El-Kanater prison. She will spend there therest of her 15 days incarceration period which started on 17-12-2008 pending the court case, in which she is charged of forging her passport to flee Egypt. The custody judge had ordered on Tuesday, 12-16-2008 to detain her in custody, together with her husband Fadel Thabet (32 years) for fifteen days, while the case against them is being decided. Although the same judge released on bail of 1000 pounds each, Mr. George Fam (55 years) who works at the social services office of the Coptic Episcopate, and the Clerical Council in Alexandria, and George Morcos, known as George Abyad (67 years old), a volunteer at the churches in Alexandria, after Martha confirmed that despite knowing them, they were not involved in the forged documents. However, the Persecution Services appealed and decided to detain them for 15 days pending case investigations. It should be noted that the converted Zainab said now Martha was arrested on Saturday, 13-12-2008 at Cairo airport while trying to travel to Russia with a passport showing her Christian name. Martha was trying to escape from the continuous persecution by the Egyptian police and her family’s attempts to kill her because of her conversion to Christianity, for a period of more than five years. We at Egypt for Christ Ministry appeal to President Hosni Mubarak to intervene immediately and release our converted sister Martha Samuel Makkar, in his capacity as President of all Egyptians, and to implement the articles of the Constitution and ensure that she as well as us, the converted people in Egypt, have the right to choose our faith. We call upon people of conscience, and there are many in our beloved Egypt and all over the free world, to support our case for obtaining documents showing the faith we believe in, equal to our brothers who convert to Islam, when the Government changes all their personal papers in less than 24 hours. We call upon all believers in the world to support our case through prayers and fasting in order to obtain relief from our Lord, and to stop all the plots of the real fraudsters so as not to achieve their real intent.
