Two people were killed and six others wounded in stabbings in the city of Turku in western Finland on Friday, The Associated Pressreported.
Police said a suspect is in custody and being treated in a hospital after officers shot him.
Turku is located about 150 kilometers (90 miles) west of the Finnish capital, Helsinki.
It was not immediately clear if the stabbings were a terrorist attack or whether there was some other motive behind them.
The stabbings come a day after 13 people were murdered in a ramming attack in Barcelona. Hours later, one person was killed in a similar attack in Cambrils, south of Barcelona.
