Five bombs went off near Shi'ite mosques across Baghdad on Friday, killing at least 27 people and injuring 59,

police said. According to Reuters, the explosions took place around Friday prayers.

The deadliest attack Friday came when a car bomb went off near a mosque in the northern Baghdad neighborhood of Shaab, killing at least 20 people and injuring 17 others, the AP reported.
