At 03.00 am on Sunday 14th December the Egyptian State Security officers at “El Pharana”, Alexandria, in a barbaric-style operation arrested:

1. Mr. George Masoud Masoud Fam, (55 years old), a lawyer from Alexandria  who works at the social services office of the Alexandria Coptic Episcopate, as well as the Clerical Council in Alexandria.

2 Engineer George Hanna Morcos, known as Engineer George Abyad (67 years old), a volunteer at the churches in Alexandria, and who is known for providing all kinds of services and assistance to both Muslims and Christians.

We call on all interested parties to intervene for their immediate release in the interest of their safety.

We call on Minister Habib el Adly, Minister of Interior to intervene for their immediate release, and give orders to his men to refrain from striking at the social peace in our beloved Egypt, and from attacking human rights activists and those who work towards the safety of our country.

We would also like to draw the Minister’s attention that the State Security Service officers in Alexandria intimidate anyone who tries to volunteer in services for the benefit of the Copts in Egypt

An example for this is Mr. Nashat El-Fol Samuel who has been detained without any charges since four months in the Algharbiniyat’s prison, at Alexandria West. This happened exactly on Monday, 1/9/2008. He is a high school teacher and owner of "El-Dakheyla Educational Institute" He is known to the National Party, has been very active in El-Dakheyla area, and was preparing himself to be nominated for the next elections of the People’s Assembly and Shura Council. He is a member of the ‘intercession councils for the resolving of conflicts’ at the El-Dakheyla Police Headquarters. He is also known to provide his assistance to all Muslims and Christians alike.

We at ‘Egypt for Christ’ call upon everyone, to intervene for the immediate release of the Christian detainees, for the sake of our Country’s safety, and in order to foil all the wicked plans of those who conspire against the security and safety of the Christians in Egypt.
